car rental with a debit card is available in Bologna airport. This formula is subject to specific terms and conditions that we invite you to
take note of.
Car rental for novice drivers
Are you between 19 and 22 years old and do you want to hire a car in Bologna? Young drivers can also collect and drive the vehicle upon
payment of a supplement at the time of booking. However, you must have obtained your driving licence for at least one year and one day. From the age of 23 onwards,
you can rent without any surcharge.
Return of the vehicle to another office
We know how important flexibility is in planning your travel itineraries. For this reason, we have decided not to require the payment of a supplement for the return of the
vehicle within the same city. If you collect the car at our Florence airport office, you can return it to Florence Santa Maria Novella station without this entailing any

Landscapes and ancient villages
Emilia Romagna has for centuries been a crossroads of peoples and a land rich in history and traditions: art, culture, nature and food and wine are inextricably intertwined
and contribute to making these places rich in an enchanted and timeless charm.
Visiting the surroundings of Bologna means walking through history among mediaeval villages, Renaissance buildings and hilly landscapes with fairytale colours.
Let's start with the feudal village of Selva Malvezzi, heritage of the FAI, a fifteenth-century complex a few kilometres away from Bologna, a small ancient
world where you can enjoy good jazz music on summer evenings.
Then head south of Bologna, destination the incredible village of Dozza for a full immersion of open-air art. Here houses and alleys are decorated by contemporary
artists who have decorated the village of just 1000 souls since the 1960s.
In Dozza there is the Rocca Sforzesca, an imposing and massive structure with large towers, which we recommend for its large rooms and period furnishings worthy of the best
historical films. La Rocca is the seat of the regional institute of enology and a glass of good wine cannot be missing.
If you want to be amazed with something truly surprising, Rocchetta Mattei in Grizzana Morandi is your place! It is an eclectic and very particular castle,
built in the mid-1800s. It stands out for its architecture, a mix of liberty, Moorish, neo-Renaissance and neo-medieval genres that harmonise in a structure full of turrets,
monumental stairways and interiors arabesques.
Art and nature meet in the ancient Borgo di Monteveglio, a picturesque place characterised by a large arch that marks the entrance to a fairytale reality
where time seems to have stopped in the Middle Ages with the hotel for pilgrims, the abbey and the Franciscan convent.
All right on the edge of the wonderful Regional Park of the Monteveglio Abbey on the slopes of the Apennines.
Parma and its surroundings
A few more kilometres away, you will be able to reach Parma, birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi and the heart of Verdi's lands, a jewel town rich in art and
culture with its historic Regio theatre.
In this area you will be spoiled for choice: Rocca di Soragna, Fontanellato, Salsomaggiore Terme and the mediaeval village of Castell'Arquato, a true pearl
of ancient architecture with bridges, walls and towers, the Duke's palace, the Podestà's one, the Collegiate and the Rocca.
You have finally reached the heart of good Emilian cuisine, here it will be impossible for you to resist the best raw ham and excellent Parmigiano Reggiano, stop in one of
the typical local inns and ... enjoy!
