Tommaso Dragotto Foundation

1.    The Tommaso Dragotto Foundation is dedicated to initiatives of social value, promoting culture and business ethics as a continuation of the values pursued by its founder. Sustainability, clean energy, innovation, and zero-impact mobility are the Foundation’s core goals, aimed at enhancing the value of local areas and their artistic and cultural heritage.

2.    The Foundation began its journey with “Sicily my Life”, a prestigious photography book where the history of Sicily and entrepreneurial experience come together in a remarkable poetic narrative—a vibrant text rich with memories and experiences spanning from the post-war period to the present day. “Sicily my Life” was awarded at the University of Verona as the best communication project under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.

3.    Following the production of the documentary “Terra Madre”, dedicated to promoting Sicily’s tourism, culture, and food and wine traditions, the Foundation turned its attention to restoring the “Pupa del Capo”—the famous Art Nouveau mosaic located in Palermo’s historic market and a widely recognized symbol of local identity.

4.    In May 2017, the Foundation presented, as a world premiere at the Turin International Book Fair, the volume “Sicilia, il Grand Tour”, a unique publication containing 384 original paintings of Sicily commissioned from world-renowned watercolor artist Fabrice Moireau. The project also led to an exhibition hosted by the Federico II Foundation at the Palazzo dei Normanni in Palermo. The book’s cover was honored by being chosen as the official welcome image for the G7 summit in Taormina in 2017. The painting collection was later displayed in Rome at the prestigious Fondazione Terzo Pilastro, and the event was officially visited by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

5.    Among the Foundation’s achievements, a standout is its contribution to Sicily being awarded "Region of Honor 2017" by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), the largest Italian-American community organization in the U.S., with over 1 million members..

6.    In July 2020, the Foundation donated a new sculpture of the mythological "Genius of Palermo" to the Botanical Garden of Palermo, part of the university museum system. Created by artist Domenico Pellegrino, the work embodies the city’s values of multiculturalism and inclusion. In 2022, the book “Genius Panormi” was published, recounting the millennia-old, symbiotic relationship between art and nature in a continuous dialogue between the artwork and its environment..

7.    Since 2023, the Tommaso Dragotto Foundation has been headquartered at Villa del Gattopardo in Palermo, the prestigious 18th-century summer residence of the Princes of Lampedusa.
